Women’s Conference

My Aunt JoAn hosted my mom and me at Womens conference. She is an incredibly service minded individual. She is on several service boards. She was in charge of getting nine people to help direct conference goers to the Marriot Center and to check that they had their badges. We worked for 4 hours and got to go to the conference for free. JoAn also booked hotel rooms at the Marriot, so generous!! Aunt Jeanette also joined the fun. It was a beautiful weekend at a beautiful campus. Utah is so gorgeous. Aunt Jill has been really ill so we went to visit her. I pray it improves. My mom was in heaven being with her sisters,

Parkin turns 19!!!

It's Parkin's last year in the teens!!! He crushed his first year at college. He managed to get straight A's, work part time as a life guard, teach aqua fit classes, join a university social club and live independetly as an adult. He also assesed his likes and goals and while he is great at math he knows he really loves science and missed taking science classes. So listening to himself he changed his major. Now that is a sign of believing in oneself. I love that he changed course...and he might again!! Follow your arrow son, your inner compus will not stear you wrong. I love you Practilly Perfect Parkin. You have been an absolute pleasure to parent. I am impressed by the man you are becoming and am excited to see what path you choose for the future because I will be cheering you on!! Adrian made Patkin this birthday crown. He thought it was awesome!!

Holman loses an organ!

Poor Holmam woke up last Sunday with sevear abdominal pain. He couldnt go back to sleep it was so bad. he stoically still went to church. And that Church he met with one of his friends who is a nurse and she suggested maybe it was an appendicitis. But because Holman was at church, she thought oh it's probably not appendicitis. She probably wouldn't be able to even stand up right now. So home and finish the rest of his church time and then came home. When he was at home, Benjamin and I had him do the appendicitis test. You lay down on the couch and then we push two fingers into his abdomen close to his belly button, and when you release those fingers from being pushed in if you spring up in pain, it's usually an appendicitis. sure enough, he doubled over in pain from the release of the fingers that were pushed into his abdomen. He still didn't think his pain was enough for it to be in appendicitis so he made bread. Then I said this is nuts. You need to go into the doctors office. We called our bishop Mike Walston, a close family friend in high school friend and he suggested to go to Saint Joe's. Holman and I waited in the waiting room for several hours. They finally took a CAT scan of his abdomen and they said he did indeed have an appendicitis. They wanted to do the surgery in the morning and we were like why wait if we know that there's a problem. We're not quite sure how the ball got rolling but the next thing we know instead of home and being wheeled into his private room, he was being wheeled into the OR. Benjamin had been texting Mike about the whole thing and Mike offered to come in and do the anesthesia for it. Benjamin took him up on that offer. So we don't know if because Mike was coming into the hospital that they decided to do the surgery then or how the ball got rolling but we're so glad it did. When the doctor did open him up, his appendix had been leaking. We call that an a burst appendix if it's leaking it means that it did burst! Holman and I spent the night in the hospital as he recovered and Dr. Mike visited him the next morning. Mike was on the phone with his son Jett who is on a mission and who is one of Holmans best friends. It was fun that they got to talk. it was a beast of a surgery and it's been a beast of recovery but Holman's a fighter so he's gonna be fine so grateful for Dr. Walton and his family live so close and being so helpful.

Pole Vault Prayer

The pole vault season is officially over. It was a fun run, kind of time-consuming :-) but very worthwhile to see all the growth. On our last meet that we hosted our girls typically like to say a prayer before the meat begins. Our girl vaulters that day are all LDS. They fo this eveey meet. Surprisingly the boys on our team asked if they could join in. They haven't asked before to join in but have been invited everytime. The girls were excited that they wanted to include them. Then the opposing team heard that they were giving a prayer and asked if they could join too. It was super cute so I had to take a photo of it. Honestly high school kids can be so surprising.I am incrediably impressed that they live their faith so openly, they are true disciples of Christ.

Silly house we love

Benjamin loves this house that's off of Speedway. He used to deliver pizzas there when he was a teenager. They used to have a pond in front and they had these large circular windows. He always wanted to know what was behind the windows. 10 years ago when we bought our current house, we remember looking at this house. It was very very cool so when it came up for sale again and there was an open house, I had to go and see it. Benjamin was out of town so Mom was a willing partner. We always call this the layer house because there's like a superhero layer in the middle of it. It has this raised family room and the large circular windows that are just so fun. . in another life, I would've been a realtor.

Fastest Road Cleanup EVER!!

In April we had the fastest road cleanup ever. For the first time we cleaned the road in the late afternoon instead of on a Saturday morning. It went a lot smoother than I had anticipated. Schedules were pretty crazy and we knew we couldn't put it off into the summer months so we had to just pick a date. Unfortunately, none of the Gilbert crew could come down, but we understood cause the end of the year can be very crazy. Luckily it was one of the cleanest times we've ever cleaned the road. I don't know why there wasn't much trash, but it went by so fast. We celebrated by going out to street tacos afterwards.!

Cousins for the win!

During spirit week one day was dress like your favorite senior. Adrian chose her cousin Owen. He is a top notch individual who Adrian said is one of the nicest people she knows. How fortunate that my kids throughout the years have gone to school with their cousins. Sadly I dont have any close relationships with any of my cousins (neither does Benjamin) so I am so grateful that my kids do.

Adrian’s plays!

Adrian was a part of 2 School plays this spring. She was in the high school musical production of Cinderella and she was one of the leads in The Little Prince play. She was terrific in both. She had some funny lines in Cinderella. The cast had a lot of LDS kids so it was fun to see everybody shine. It was cousin Franklins first school musical. He did great! In the Little Prince she played the avator. she did such a great job, especially her crying scenes. Papa grew up reading that book and he got emotional with how well the cast did. Adrienne had a lot of family support that came to watch the play. We went out to Jason's Mexican food afterwards. it is so great having family that is supportive and close by although the Webster did drive in from Gilbert so that is not close by. It was so thoughtful for them to come twice!
